Just Born Receives "Waste Watcher Award"

Bethlehem, Pa. - October 9, 2007 - Just Born, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been presented the 2007 “Waste Watcher Award” by the Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania (PROP), The Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association (PWIA) and the Keystone Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA).  Just Born was presented the award for outstanding achievement in three categories: Public Education, Commercial/Institutional Recycling, and Reuse.  
 
Donna Burkit, Just Born’s Director of Customer Operations, received the award on behalf of the company at the PWIA/SWANA/DEP Fall Conference in State College, PA.
 
Led by Thomas Glass, Just Born’s Environmental, Safety and Health Manager, Just Born’s Green Team plans and coordinates educational, energy conservation and waste reduction programs at the company.  Some of the Green Team’s activities include celebration of America Recycles Day, participation in the City of Bethlehem’s Annual Earth Day celebration for grade school students, and participation in the annual native plant sale at Wildlands Conservancy.  The Green Team was formed in 2002.
 
Recycling is a large focus of the Green Team’s efforts.  Just Born recycles 76% of the facility’s waste, including everything from starch and sugar bags, corrugated cardboard, used batteries, aerosol cans, and even employees’ old cell phones and eye glasses.
 
The 2007 Waste Watcher Awards recognized more than 40 winners for their contributions to Pennsylvania’s recycling and composting industries.  Awards were presented to municipalities, counties, private businesses, schools, universities, and community organizations.
