Bethlehem, Pa. — January 19, 2016 —A press conference was held earlier today at the Just Born Quality Confections headquarters, located in Bethlehem, PA, where the iconic PEEPS® Chick announced its candidacy to run for Spring Ambassador against the Groundhog.
For more than 129 years, the Groundhog has been predicting the arrival of spring by relying on his own shadow. The groundhog has predicted spring correctly a measly 39 percent of the time. The Chick is confident that it is a more reliable contender since PEEPS® yellow marshmallow Chicks arrive on store shelves to spread awareness to the American citizens that spring is just around the corner.
“If elected as the 2016 Spring Ambassador, I will ensure that the days are touched by sunshine, flowers bloom larger than ever and birds chirp sweetly to the sounds of children’s’ laughter,” stated the PEEPS® Chick during the press conference. “For more than 60 years I have been known as an Easter Basket Hero – my duty does not stop here.”
A voting ballot will be available online at www.marshmallowpeeps.com and will remain open until February 2, 11:59 p.m. Casting a ballot for the Spring Ambassador also enters fans into the ‘PEEP the Vote’ Sweepstakes, where one lucky voter will win the title of the Chief Spring Officer (CSO) and a sweet PEEPS® prize package.
