Just Born Quality Confections Statement Concerning Coronavirus

Updated 3/23/2020

As a third generation family owned business since 1923, the well-being of our associates, community, customers and business partners is of the utmost importance to us.

In response to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation, we are temporarily suspending production at our facilities in Bethlehem and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, effective no later than 3/25/20 at 6:30am through at least 4/7/20.  Our PEEPS & Company® Store in Center Valley, Pennsylvania closed 3/17/20 and will remain closed through at least 4/7/20.  Most of our office associates have been working remotely since 3/18/20 but now all associates will work from home through at least 4/7/20.  All associates will continue to be paid throughout this time period.  We will take this opportunity to further clean and sanitize our production facilities, offices and corporate headquarters.

Our internal task force for COVID-19 continues to regularly monitor the domestic and worldwide impact of the virus and is following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), local and state health and government authorities and the World Health Organization.

All of our PEEPS® have been produced and shipped to retailers for this upcoming Easter season.  We do have inventory of MIKE AND IKE®, HOT TAMALES® and GOLDENBERG’S® PEANUT CHEWS® for the short term but may experience out of stocks on several individual items.  We will continue to work with our retail partners to ensure that the fans of our brands can continue to enjoy them during this challenging time.

About Just Born Quality Confections:
Just Born Quality Confections is a third-generation family-owned company that has grown into the 10th largest candy company in the U.S. [*] Just Born is the maker of some of America’s most beloved and iconic brands – PEEPS®, MIKE AND IKE®, HOT TAMALES® and GOLDENBERG’S® PEANUT CHEWS®. In 1923, the founder, Sam Born, opened a small candy-making and retail store in Brooklyn, New York, where he marketed the freshness of his daily-made candy with a sign that declared, “Just Born.” Together with Born’s brothers-in-law, Irv and Jack Shaffer, the company thrived in spite of the economic depression of the 1930s and, in 1932, moved its operations to Bethlehem, PA, which is still home to their iconic candy brands. All Just Born candies are proudly made in the U.S.A. For more information, please visit Follow us:,
